Castle High's Poi Mill is here but still needs your help

November 19, 2021

Aloha Castle supporters!

One of the ways your Association has supported Castle High School was by facilitating the purchase of a Poi Mill for the school's Agriculture program. The Poi Mill is one of the ambitious projects the program has taken on to accomplish a bigger goal of teaching the students about entrepreneurship and food and nutrition as medicine.

Poi Mill

The Poi Mill was purchased via a very generous grant by Alexander and Baldwin to the Alumni Association, however, it isn't just a matter of plugging it in to make poi. They need a food safe kitchen certified by the Department of Health and some additional electrical work in the kitchen to start making poi. They are asking alumni and the community for $3,500 to prepare the kitchen for certification and another $1,500 for electrical work.

Watch Jake Ferreira as he describes what they need.
